DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE:

Dear Members,
ATMA has been a great way for media artists to connect, and now in 2008 it's stepping into a new phase of its evolution. The legal work is being processed for ATMA to officially be recognized as a 501.c.3 non-profit organization. This is a foundational step as it allows us to bring in funding that can fuel the vision that started ATMA in 1996, as well as the new vision that is emerging. We have recently subscribed to GrantStation, and will be posting grants of interest to members, as well as moving our own funding efforts forward.

Now it's time to shift our focus to moving out into the world. There is already a shift in momentum that is gathering strength; our Visioning process is generating great ideas. People are showing up who can help us move to a new level. Organizations are interested in partnering with us. The Board of Directors is meeting soon to decide on new membership benefits, goals and schedule. Several ATMA members are showing up in a big way. Member GARY MALKIN, a well-known composer and musician, has generously offered to write a theme song for ATMA. Member MICHAEL HOWARD is eager to help us expand our L.A. base, as well as serving ATMA through his recruiting business and other projects. We have found an artist and web developers who will work with us to create a new ATMA logo and web site. The new web site will allow members to edit their profiles and post events. It will include features such as projects and Featured Members. If anyone is interested in contributing their ideas or talents to this project, please email me.

ATMA was represented at the PartnerShift Alliance Summit on February 8th in San Francisco, a gathering of representatives of many different organizations who are dedicated to creating a better world. Other organizations represented included Alliance for a New Humanity, Institute of Noetic Sciences, Pachamama Alliance, Peace Alliance, Circle of Life Foundation, Wiser Earth, and many others.

Partnership is a key element for ATMA, and we have formed a strong relationship with the Center fo
r Conscious Creativity in Los Angeles, and are in discussions with several other organizations that will help ATMA provide networking and support to a wider range of media artists throughout the world. Check out www.consciouscreativity.org for their L.A. event schedule.

As a part of its non-profit charter, ATMA will be providing educational opportunities for its members, the media community at large and the public. The first step in this process is a monthly teleconference starting in May, 2008. Several members have already stepped forward to teach classes, and to offer discounts to other ATMA members as a way of creating community resources. If you are interested in any of these activities, contact me at 609-865-6284 or gary@transformedia.org.
